Four Eureka Players Vie for a Rose

Four Eureka Lacrosse players recently competed in the 21st Mr. EHS Pageant, one of Eureka's proudest traditions.

There was no shortage of lacrosse players on the EHS stage on Thursday, January 25th during the 21st annual Mr. EHS Pageant. The event brings together a group of 24 boys from a variety of clubs and teams in a friendly competition.

Mikey Ward represented the club officially as Mr. Lacrosse. Jack Sauter appeared as Mr. Catpound. Max Alizadeh was Mr. Hockey and Mitchell Gabel was Mr. SWAT.

The pageant, which is sponsored by the Student Council, is one of the most popular events at EHS. Every year students line up to buy a coveted ticket and tickets sell out within a few hours.

The competition has raised over $86,000 for various local charities over the years. This year, the event netted $6000 which will be divided between The Hope Community Project and Backstoppers.

The celebrity emcee this year was Miss Missouri Jennifer Leigh Davis, who proved that pageant contestants are as witty as they are beautiful. Her non-scripted monologues between performances kept the crowd laughing all night.  After Sauter delivered his pick up line in the Club Wear competition, Davis asked, "Who are their fathers?!"

Each contestant competed in four categories:  Club Wear, Talent, Karaoke and Formal Wear.  The categories gave each contestant a chance to shine (and apparently to take their shirts off !).

At the end of the Formal Wear, six finalists were named out of the 24 contestants. Of the six, three were lacrosse players:  Mitchell Gabel, Jack Sauter and Mikey Ward.

Jack Sauter was also named Fan Favorite after an online poll closed.  Mr. STUCO, Micah Sandhu was crowned Mr. EHS.

After the event, Ward said, "We all [the contestants] decided to keep our texting group so we can stay in touch.. It was so much fun. I wish I could do it all over again. "
